Tuesdays with Morrie

ITINERANT THEATRE BRINGS ACCLAIMED TWO-MAN PLAY TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE TO LAKE AREA FOR ONE WEEKEND RUN, MARCH 13-15, 2014 AT IMPERIAL CALCASIEU MUSEUM

Itinerant Theatre (IT) is excited to return to the Lake Area acclaimed two-man play Tuesdays with Morrie by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom for a one-weekend run at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum, which is co-host, along with IT, for this event. The production occurs Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 13, 14 and 15, 2014 in The Gibson Barham Gallery of the Museum, 204 W. Sallier St., Lake Charles, LA. Tickets are $15 or $10 for students. Curtain is 7:00pm sharp.

Mitch Albom, acclaimed author and journalist, joined forces with playwright Jeffrey Hatcher to write this vigorous autobiographical tale of the rekindling of Mitch’s relationship with Morrie Schwartz, his scrappy mentor and college professor, after a 16-year break. The fast-paced, humor-laced play is life-affirming. Morrie throws down the gauntlet to dare a young Mitch to prioritize his life towards love and giving of self to others even as his own health deteriorates from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Tuesdays with Morrie has an all-professional Lake Area cast and crew. Michael Goldman (Morrie) and Michael Muffuletto (Mitch), as well as Director Carolyn Woosley, are from Lake Charles, as are Diane McCarthy and Dickie Jines who serve as choreographed on-stage crew called “black angels”. Lighting design is by Norman McKnight, set design by Carolyn Woosley, sound design by Leslie Berman. Stage management, scenic artwork, set construction are by Joy Pace. IT thanks ACTS Theatre for additional sets, props and costume pieces.

Ms. Woosley, Mr. Goldman and Mr. Muffuletto premiered this production at ACTS of Lake Charles in January 2013. Director and cast also recently performed this play at Orange Community Players (OCP) in Orange, Texas as part of OCP’s regular season in February 2014.
